Yes, of course the internet helps bringing people together to share knowledge and experiences. But what if there is no internet, but mobile phones are around? Then you use the mobile phone as well! WeFarm is an excellent example of that. WeFarm is a network of farmers that can ask questions and share farming tips and advice by sending a local SMS message. WeFarm uses the internet, and a unique peer translation system, to share the knowledge by SMS with other WeFarm members around the world. We love WeFarm!

WHY SHOULD YOU WATCH THIS? “Helping the blind 'see' through mobile technology”Good ideas often are simple ideas. Be My Eyes (Lend Your Eyes To The Blind) for example helps the blind ‘see’ with a mobile phone. A blind person requests assistance in the Be My Eyes app. The challenge that he/she needs help with can be anything from knowing the expiry date on the milk to navigating new surroundings. The volunteer helper receives a notification for help and a live video connection is established. From the live video the volunteer can help the blind person by answering the question they need answered. It’s that simple!
